ES Precision - time in lockdown brings projects to fruition

Oxford-based laser and machining specialist ES Precision used the time during lockdown to complete a number of housekeeping tasks.

“We stayed open for business throughout as a number of our customers needed our marking services for sensitive medical work,” recalled company director, Andrew May. “Confidentiality agreements prevent me being able to give too much away – but one of the companies operates at the forefront of vaccine development work.”

One significant achievement for ES Precision was becoming certified for Cyber Essentials: “This demonstrates formally that our ICT defences are assessed as satisfactory against cyber-attack.”

“Some of our customers were pressing for this as we handle particularly sensitive data from them in the course of fulfilling our laser marking service. We also found it useful with regard to ensuring we look after our own data and fulfil GDPR obligations.”

Cyber Essentials is an official UK wide, government-backed certification that helps companies guard against the most common cyber threats and reduce risk by at least 80 percent. It also allows businesses to demonstrate their commitment to cyber-security to prospective customers.

“We also used to time to redesign our website, Andy concludes, “and we’re delighted with the improved levels of traffic we’ve been receiving. It’s a clean design that clearly illustrates the various services we can offer customers. It’ll be updated regularly.”
