Lasermet achieves UKAS accreditation for off-site laser safety testing

In July 2020, UKAS awarded Lasermet accreditation for the off-site testing of lasers to the laser safety standards BS EN 60825-1:2014, 2007, 2001 (off-site) (Safety of laser products).

This is an extremely important addition to the UKAS accreditation achievements for Lasermet as it enables customer’s laser equipment to be safety tested in-situ.  This highly advantageous capability means that Lasermet can test lasers that may be too large or they may be integral to a system, or they may not be practical to move.

The ISO 17025 accreditation is the most important standard for testing laboratories. It confirms that Lasermet is able to produce precise and accurate test results and has the expertise and resources to certify that a laser system is safe.

Accreditation by UKAS endorses Lasermet’s capability to provide a high level of expertise, traceability and professionalism. Lasermet’s knowledge, experience and dedication to these high standards puts the company at the forefront of specialist safety testing worldwide.  Customers can be assured that testing is carried out correctly and professionally to the appropriate standards – whether on-site at Lasermet’s lab facilities or off-site at the customer’s premises.

Paul Tozer, Managing Director of Lasermet said "UKAS accreditation for off-site laser testing to BS EN 60825-1 is another great achievement for Lasermet. It complements our other services – such as laser safety audits; laser power meter calibration, FDA reports - and, of course, laser safety training which we are doing over the internet – live.”
