Pro-Lite's SphereOptics achieves ISO 17025 accreditation for Reflectance Calibration Laboratory

Pro-Lite’s SphereOptics division (Herrsching, Germany) has achieved accreditation to the DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018 quality assurance standard for its Reflectance Calibration Laboratory. The SphereOptics Reflectance Laboratory now provides DAkkS-accredited measurement services for spectral reflectance in accordance with DIN 5036 Part 3 11.79 for diffusely reflecting materials in the wavelength range from 250 to 2450nm (UV-VIS-NIR bands).

SphereOptics is the first commercial laboratory in Europe to achieve ISO accreditation for the measurement and calibration of total hemispherical reflectance in both specular-included and specular-excluded geometries in accordance with DIN 5036. SphereOptics is a manufacturer of Zenith and Zenith-Lite® diffuse reflectance standards and targets, and ISO-accredited calibrations are now offered on these products. In addition, SphereOptics offers a 3rd party measurement and calibration service for customer-supplied materials.

SphereOptics’ General Manager, Dr Rainer Boehm commented that “I am very proud that SphereOptics has become the first commercial laboratory in Europe to achieve ISO accreditation for reflectance measurements. This is the culmination of several years of hard work by the SphereOptics team and many tens of thousands of Euros investment. With our diffuse reflectance standards and targets being relied upon in critical aerospace, automotive LIDAR and healthcare applications, it is important to be able to provide our customers with the added confidence of independently accredited, traceable calibrations”.

In addition to its ISO-accredited calibration service, SphereOptics offers measurement services for BRDF and BTDF (scatter), spectral transmittance and total hemispherical reflectance as a function of incident angle.
