Luxinar supports WiME (Women into Manufacturing and Engineering) at careers event

Hot on the heels of International Day of Women and Girls in Science, UK-based laser technology company Luxinar is proud to be supporting WiME at its career event taking place in Scunthorpe, UK, on Tuesday 3 March.  WiME was established by Green Port Hull, Siemens Gamesa, Airco and Jobcentre Plus to persuade women into careers in manufacturing and engineering.  According to WiME, this sector contributes to 17 percent of jobs in the local Humber region, however women are under-represented in these roles.

Luxinar has been established for over 20 years and employs nearly 180 people at its UK manufacturing site and 16 employees at its overseas offices in China, South Korea, Germany, Italy and the USA; many of them are working in skilled manufacturing and engineering roles.  The company is keen to promote careers in this important sector of the economy and the need for employees with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) qualifications.

Luxinar is one of 30 companies that will be participating at the Scunthorpe event.  Its stand will show the wide variety of interesting roles at the company and include an interactive laser-based game.  Visitors will also have an opportunity to speak with some of Luxinar’s female employees about their journey into this sector and what a typical working day looks like.
