The MTC is recruiting - take a look at two additive manufacturing posts

 

The Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) is recruiting and there are two posts that might be of interest to those in the laser community.

1. Advanced Research Engineer - Additive Manufacturing

​As the Advanced Research Engineer you will have/be able to:

  • Contribute and support senior colleagues in the Additive Manufacturing business and technology strategy. 
  • Support proposal of new capability development projects that align with the Department, Technology Theme, and overall MTC strategy, and able to explore different routes for project funding (internal, industrial, or CR&D funding).
  • Be involved with horizon scanning of AM technologies and new approaches to solving industrial problems across a range of industrial sectors.
  • Lead engagement with existing customers to win repeat business.

2. Manufacturing Engineer - Additive Manufacturing

As the Manufacturing Engineer you will have/be able to:

  • Create manufacturing methods and sequences.
  • Quote job requests for lead-time and cost.
  • Resolve non-conformance to ensure an in spec product is delivered to the customer.
  • Work with the customer to optimise the design of products (DfM) to ensure an optimum manufacturing method can be generated.
  • Optimise current manufacturing capability to ensure continuous reduction of waste.  For example, reduced tool wear or SMED.
  • Manage the introduction of new manufacturing capability into the workshop.
  • Influence the creation and deployment of future manufacturing capability roadmap to ensure world class processes are operated.
