Strong sales growth in China results in SPI expansion

SPI Lasers plc announces the opening of a business support office in Shenzhen China. Strong sales growth over the past year in CW lasers for a wide variety of micro machining applications requires a solid base of applications, product and business support. SPI Lasers is working in partnership with A&P Instrument Co Ltd in China to offer a wide range of sales and support services.

John Tinson, VP Sales for SPI Lasers comments "The A&P Instrument Co Ltd sales and technical support team have done a superb job to grow our business over the past two years; our recent investment is in support of this effort to add local SPI management, enabling a direct reporting line to the UK management team. A&P Instrument Co Ltd will continue to make significant investments throughout 2007 in order to support and expand the SPI product and application range." A&P Instrument Co Ltd has six offices across China offering sales and support for SPI lasers.

SPI Lasers and A&P Instrument Co Ltd offer a "try before you buy" service across China whereby companies can evaluate a pulsed or CW fibre laser (up to 200W in output power) free of charge for 15-30 days. These customers have full access to SPI's Global applications laboratory to create proof of principle samples showing the lasers suitability for the machining task. In 2007, SPI plan to expand their support to the Chinese market by providing an application laboratory in the Shenzhen office.

Tony Hoult, Applications Manager SPI commented. "We are very excited about the planned opening of the Shenzhen application laboratory in 2007. With this facility companies will be able to send staff to train on the laser prior to using it in production: providing yet another testament to SPI's investment in the customer experience"
