Summary

This one-day meeting at Photonex 08 is to highlight developments in the application of laser technology to the burgeoning medical and biophotonics sectors. The scope of the meeting includes developments in laser sources, beam delivery, monitoring and control, auxiliary equipment, safety and standards.

Laser technology is vitally important in the micro and emerging nanoengineering fields, providing high-resolution, accuracy, speed and flexibility; in particular, its utilisation in the engineering of micro features is key to the technical and commercial success of many mass-produced components ranging from production of bone saws, cutting of hypotubes for catheters and stents, heart pacemakers, etc. Laser technology is a key technology in innovative products used in the medical and biophotonics fields.

Four presentations in each session are given by experts in their field.

Breakfast

Photonex Industry Breakfast, Strollers Restaurant, Exhibition Hall,
Stoneleigh Park, Coventry

Thursday 16 October 08.45 – 10.00

The Association of Laser Users (AILU) would like to invite you to an informal light breakfast as part of its support of Photonex. During the breakfast you will have the opportunity of reviewing AILU’s ‘Power Photonics’ activities within the Photonics KTN and its plans for the coming year.

This will be an excellent opportunity to meet up with other individuals involved in the application of lasers in industry.

Start the day with breakfast on us! Then visit the exhibition and join us to hear the presentations in our Seminar Programme taking place during the day.

The breakfast is sponsored by Messe Stuttgart who organise Germany’s premier Laser Engineering event LaSys and will take place on Thursday 16 October between 08.45 and 10am.

Please register by emailing the AILU office at events@ailu.org.uk
