Topic: Job Shop forum / New controls on an old Trumpf loading arm

We have a loading arm from an old Trumpf 4030 machine that we would like to use on our new Trumpf 5040 machine. I have spoken to Trumpf and they have said that the old sytem is not compatible with the new machine. Is it possible to fit the arm with controls seperate from the laser that would allow us to work it manually? Can anyone suggest people that might be able to do this? We are based in Arbroath in Scotland.

The arm has sensors that are connected via an AS-i bus system. I was hoping we could fit a PLC onto the arm so that all it's old functionality could be retained but not integrated with the laser.

Regards

Rory McLeod.
