Topic: Job Shop forum / Normal decoiled plates vs genuine Laser quality

Steve Adey Steel & Alloy Processing Ltd,  AILU members, asked me why so many people cutting steel sheet use normal decoiled plates instead of genuine laser quality.  He acknowledges that for 12mm and under there is a saving on price by using decoiled material but points out that if you scrap a 10 or 12 mm plate due to distortion after cutting it wipes out the saving.

Is this argument reasonable?
